Unlike Dice, Plinko or Mines — which mostly converge on a flat ~1% house edge across the same platform — Keno's edge typically runs higher and varies more by pick count and risk setting, commonly landing somewhere in the 1-4% range depending on the site. Your payout depends on how many of your picks match the draw, per that site's published paytable.
Dice and Plinko are independent-event games; raffle is a simple ticket ratio. Keno is neither — it's a hypergeometric distribution, the probability of a specific overlap between two fixed sets (your picks and the draw) pulled from the same pool. This produces a distinctly shaped curve where mid-range matches are common and high matches are genuinely rare, not just "low probability" in the same way a dice roll is.
How many numbers you pick and which risk-level setting you choose (where offered) are separate decisions. Pick count changes how many ways you can match; risk level reshapes the payout multiplier curve on top of that. Both are variance controls — neither changes the platform's underlying house edge for your chosen configuration.
Before the draw, the platform commits to a server seed via a published hash, combined with your client seed. After the draw, the full seed is revealed so you can independently recompute the drawn numbers and confirm nothing was altered after you locked in your picks. All sites on this list use HMAC-SHA256 or SHA-256 server/client seed systems for Keno.
General pattern confirmed across Stake.com, BC.Game, Duelbits, Roobet and Gamdom: fewer picks means more frequent, smaller matches; more picks means rarer but much larger multiplier swings. The house edge stays roughly consistent within a given site regardless of pick count.

Pick count doesn't change your long-run house edge, but — exactly like mine count on Mines — it changes how fast variance can move your session balance in either direction.
1-2 picks, small flat bet size relative to balance. Frequent modest matches keep the session running longer without needing a rare high-match outcome to stay afloat.
3-5 picks — the range most sites' default paytables are tuned around. Balances hit frequency against multiplier size for a session that neither drains nor sits idle too long.
8-10 picks only makes sense with a bankroll sized to absorb many consecutive rounds with no meaningful match. Each round is fully independent — no streak of misses makes the next high-pick round more likely to hit.
